Draft for review. Each [REVIEW: …] note marks a fact or legal position to confirm before launch.
1. Who handles refunds
SecBrain is provided by HUMAN READY AI (PTY) LTD. Plans bought on our website or web app are sold by our reseller Paddle, the merchant of record for those orders (Paddle.com Inc., Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd or Paddle.com Market Limited, depending on where you are). Paddle takes the payment, so Paddle issues the refund, to the original payment method, including any tax charged. This policy sits alongside Paddle’s Refund Policy and Buyer Terms. Plans bought in the iOS app are sold by Apple through In-App Purchase; Apple’s refund process applies to them, and you ask Apple, not us, for those refunds. The rest of this policy covers plans bought through Paddle.
2. Our 30-day money-back guarantee
If SecBrain Pro or Max isn’t right for you, ask for a refund within 30 days of the payment and we will refund that payment in full. This applies to monthly and annual plans, to your first payment and to renewals [REVIEW: scope of the guarantee: every payment, or only the first payment for a plan]. No questions asked beyond what we need to find your order.
A refunded plan ends when its subscription is cancelled; your account then moves to the Free plan [REVIEW: confirm the backend downgrades on a Paddle refund event (F1)]. Your library stays yours, and export stays available on every plan.
3. How to ask for a refund
- Email support@secbrain.app from your account email, with your Paddle order number or receipt if you have it; or
- use the link in your Paddle receipt email, or go to paddle.net, find your order and choose “Request refund”.
Paddle processes approved refunds; how long the money takes to reach you depends on your bank or card issuer. Please contact us before raising a chargeback with your bank: a refund is usually faster for you than a dispute.
4. Your legal rights
This guarantee adds to, and does not reduce, any right you have by law. For example, consumers in the EU, EEA and UK have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase, as Paddle’s Buyer Terms describe, and South African consumer law may give you further rights [REVIEW: South African cooling-off rights (ECTA section 44) and how they interact with the 30-day guarantee]. Businesses registered for sales tax can ask Paddle to refund tax charged in error within 60 days of the transaction, as Paddle’s Buyer Terms describe.
5. What isn’t covered
- Requests made more than 30 days after the payment, unless the law requires a refund or a material defect in SecBrain stopped you from using the features you paid for.
- Cases with evidence of fraud, refund abuse or other manipulative behaviour, such as repeatedly buying and refunding a plan.
- Partial billing periods after the 30-day window: cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for, but the unused part of that period is not refunded.
- The Free plan, which has no charges to refund.
- The 14-day free trial of Pro or Max, which needs no payment and so has nothing to refund.
6. Cancelling without a refund
You can cancel at any time through the link in your Paddle receipt, the Paddle customer portal, or by emailing support@secbrain.app. For a plan bought in the iOS app, cancel in your Apple subscription settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; your account then moves to the Free plan. See section 4.3 of our Terms of Service.
